Your website will be built on a WordPress platform. It can be easily expanded into the future, and the contents of the pages can be edited by you.
Once the website build environment is set up, the WordPress environment is configured and the WordPress theme installed. The SEO extensions and Google Analytics modules are enabled and standard social media channels are linked (Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter).
A basic contact form is installed and will include a confirmation email when a visitor submits the form.
The site framework is responsive and mobile-friendly and includes a newsletter sign up form (while this may or may not be used initially, the functionality to initiate it will be in place).
Securities will be installed and set up to protect the site from hackers and malware. Thereafter a maintenance contract is recommended to generate and store frequent site backups and maintain securities and plugins.
A site statistics and analytics tool is included for future use and a full backup of the initial go-live version is stored offsite.
On completion of the website, you’ll be enabled with the secure access details to the WordPress content management system so that you are able to edit the site.
The Web Design Process
We start with a ‘discovery call’ via telephone or Skype where you tell me about your business needs and what you’re looking for.
Based on our conversation, I’ll present an electronic proposal to you that will give you options. Spend some time choosing the elements you need, and click on ‘Submit’.
Here we agree on the basic project parameters based on your proposal selections. These include costs, timeframes and what will be required from each of us and when. The contract is electronic and we fill it in online.
It’s at this point that you’ll be presented with an invoice for a 50% deposit. Safe and secure PayPal or credit card facilities are available for you, or you could just do a bank transfer.
It’s important to outline the process and to let you know what to expect. This intro packet includes all the important information, clarifies what’s needed from each of us and when.
I’d like you to fill out an online discovery questionnaire. This clarifies branding requirements, identifies web elements you’d like to include, examples websites that appeal to you, and more.
Throughout the project (and beyond) you will have access to your own online Client Lounge. This is an online portal that is accessible 24/7 and is a centralised hub for everything relating to the project. You’ll find the proposal, contract, invoice, emails and designs here.
Based on the information gathered through the onboarding questionnaire, I will create a draft layout and design for your website.
I’ll equip you with a style guide that includes a colour palette and typography together with a layout concept of the home page for your review and input. This is a joint effort, and I want to be sure that you are happy with the direction we take as we develop your site.
Once you’re happy with the design concepts, I’ll turn our vision into a working website.
